Tech tips: Who are you?...Why its important to have your own website?

I owned my first personal website in 1998....yup! the NETSCAPE era!..and the noisy dialup modem, arrghhh!! The struggle loading a 245kb JPEG was real! Working in the field of IT Technology and Management i must say for those who want to be part of global digital age of internet and wanted to share your own thoughts and contribution to the digital society then you should own a website. If you say you own a 'Social Media' platform under the umbrella of some corporation 'you know who' or others so called 'i own your sorry ass' now platform then you're not legit part of the society because you just sitting in a'bird cage' because 'they' control the flow of your contents and set the rules on how you behave or progresses. Your content is theirs. That's why i see lots of sad people on social media because they only able to express few words and limited resources to show under restricted rules. Now if you own a website under your own cool domain name (eg: myownsite . com) then you have yourself a home and playground with your own set of rules! Its your world to play with and disseminate the information. Your house, your rules, your game, your world! 'Social Media' platform as mentioned above is a good medium for 'communication' only but not a good place to expand and experimenting your ideas, goals and visions. For example if you look at my 'project' website https://www.supermotoxl.com i can create lots of cool contents, expand my ideas, host my cool projects, tutorial, news updates, blogs, archives gallery of visual activities, personal updates and other cool things to do because my digital content showcase are unlimited and so does my ideas expansion. The internet search engine will pick up the contents and let it float around digital space forever! Cool i see my stuff is everywhere on the internet. With upstanding usable contents and your own 'permanent' digital identity via domain name you'll get much respect and credibility as a person on internet....if you contribute well. Social media?...nope..if you check the fine print agreement (T.O.S) before you register it says your contents is belong to the company/corporation for marketting and stuff. ..very shady and sad huh? They can kick you out anytime....sounds familiar. Not all search engine able to find you in an enclosed/encapsulated social media platform where your personal data or content are too profitable for corporation to flow out to others. Your family and kids photos?..yup they are for 'sale'. How you behave and post in there will be use for 'social media arithmetic algorithm marketing'...you're just a gullible hamster. But if you have your own website you'll feel at home! I can talk all day some benefits having a website but below are key points:

• A place for personal growth and expand your skillset on 'blank platform'. In short 'Self empowerment'.
  
  
• Showcase your work and hobby with your own set of rules. Show what you can do to the world!
• Your playground to experimenting stuff and share with people with no restriction.
  
  
• To host and publish your cool creation and other creativity thus boost your self esteem and confidence once you have completed your work or achieve goals.
  
  
• A portfolio of reference where you can showcase your skills, credible production, talents and archived past achiements to potential employer or investor. Good sources as job resume. That's why website owner have higher changes of geting sponsored or hired. 100%!
  
  
• A place where you can produce you own real information and credibility especially where lots of scammer and fake news floats around againts you. So your website hold credible information to justify againts mis-information.
  
  
• A place where to reinforce your self respect and dignity in digital world. "You have an Identity'. People can easily proof and validate who you are via search engine.
  
  
• A place where people appreciate who you are and what's you're contribution to the digital world and society especially if you're non-profit organization or club helping others for the same goal. Mad respect!
  
  
• Freedom of speech; blog, diary and much more!...freedom!
  
  
• Permanent digital footprint; if you're gone or 'moving on' your contents and contribution will be remembered and float around the vast digital world wide web...you'll be remembered!
• Direct 'legit' communication. So people knows 'real'person to contact unlike some 'random' registered person on social media behind anonymous mask.
  
  
• Having a website also force you to be creative and learn new things constantly such as web programming, graphics and other I.O.T. especially as internet tech changes over time. Its like you now have a home then its time to do some decoration and furnishing. FYI, hardcore web owners are adaptable and techie too!

Don't worry how all your information flow out to other people on the web, the free world of internet will do its thing as long you're not lazy and be pro active with the digital community. Most importantly once you have a good footprint via your own website your content will be part of the internet and will float freely in the vast ocean of world wide web even if you have pass on to other life. You want proof how it works? Just search any of my contents on the internet....yup! i'm all over places! Hehehe! I'm so proud that all my creative works well enjoyed by digital communities. If you can spend money on luxury coffee at Starbucks or a full fuel tank on your car then why not spend some bits of money on website for your own self respect, dignity and identity. One big question in digital space: "WHO ARE YOU?"
